Gender Pay Gap Information
The Gender Pay Gap Information Act 2021 places a statutory obligation on organisations with over 150 employees to report their hourly gender pay gap across a range of metrics.
The Gender Pay Gap is the difference in the average hourly wage of men and women across a workforce.
In the local government sector all employees are paid equally for work of equal value, therefore, the Gender Pay Gap is not concerned with equal pay, but looks at the percentage difference between average earnings of males and females irrespective of their role.
The City Council’s 2024 report shows a Mean Gender Pay Gap of 4.41% and a Median Gender Pay Gap of 3.31%. This represents a slight reduction in our figures from 2023.
In 2023, our Mean Gender Pay Gap was 4.44% and our Median Gender Pay Gap was 3.14%.
In 2022, our Mean Gender Pay Gap was 4.83% and our Median Gender Pay Gap was 5.65%.
