Proposed Changes or Clarifications to Dublin City's Record of Protected Structures
Any member of the public can request to add, change or remove a building or structure from Dublin City’s Record of Protected Structures. Browse the list of current requests below.
A clarification to the Record of Protected Structures can be:
- Correcting or updating the address or property description.
- Clarifying exactly what parts of the property are protected (for example, the main building only, or also the interior, boundary walls, gates, outbuildings, or gardens).
- Correcting mapping or boundary errors.
- Providing a more precise statement of the building's special architectural or historical significance.
A change to the Record of Protected Structures can entail:
- Expanding or reducing the extent of what is protected.
- Amending the description of protected features.
- Adding or removing specific structures or elements from the RPS.
- In some cases, proposing the complete addition or deletion of a structure from the Record.
How Proposed Changes are Approved or Denied
Proposed changes to the Record of Protected Structures are approved or rejected through a four step process. The third step in this process is a public consultation, where the Council erects a site notice and publishes a newspaper notice, inviting the public to submit comments or concerns. Dublin City Council will consider these comments alongside a conservation report to approve or deny the request.
Find more information on the full process under Adding to Dublin City’s Record of Protected Structures.
Dublin City's Record of Protected Structure is delivered under Section 55 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended).
