Roadworks and Construction Updates
Learn about planned roadworks and traffic management arrangements for the first stage of the Sandyford Clonskeagh to Charlemont Street Scheme, which will install interim measures in Ranelagh Village.
As part of the Sandford to Clonskeagh to Charlemont Street Interim pedestrian & Cyclist Improvement Scheme (Ranelagh) Phase 1 road marking need to be completed on Ranelagh Main between Anna Villa and Woodstock Gardens as well as Cullenswood Road and Chelmsford Lane on the 21st and 22nd of October 2025 between 19h30PM and 23h00PM. The extent of the stop-go closure for the 21st of October 2025 is along the inbound and outbound lane from Ranelagh/Anna Villa junction to the Sandford Rd/Woodstock Gardens junction. The following adjacent streets' traffic movement will also be affected by the proposed roadworks:
- Anna Villa
- Collier's Avenue
- Woodstock Gardens
The extent of the stop-go closure for the 22nd of October 2025 is along the outbound lane from Ranelagh Road/Cullenswood Rd junction to the Ranelagh Road/Chelmsford Rd junction. The following adjacent streets' traffic movement will also be affected by the proposed roadworks:
- Westmoreland park
- Elmwood Ave Lower
- Elmpark Ave
The proposed works will include removal and replacing line marking.
The proposed temporary traffic management plans for the works are attached for reference.
Pedestrian access through the site will be safely maintained at all times during the works.

Weekday Works - Ranelagh Road Works –Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th June 2025
As part of the Sandyford Clonskeagh to Charlemont (SC2C) Interim pedestrian & Cyclist Improvement Scheme (Ranelagh) Phase 1 roadworks need to be completed on Ranelagh Main between the pedestrian crossing north of Sallymount Avenue and the pedestrian crossing south of Anna Villa on the evening of the 9th and 10th of June 2025 between 19h30PM and 23h00PM.
The works will consist of finalising the line marking. There will be a traffic light switch out and a stop-go operation in the village at the pedestrian crossing north of Sallymount Avenue and the pedestrian crossing south of Anna Villa.
Pedestrian access through the site will be safely maintained at all times during the works.
Please note these works will be completed weather permitting.

Bank Holiday Weekend - Ranelagh Road Works – Sunday 4th and Monday 5th May 2025
As part of the Sandford to Clonskeagh to Charlemont Street Interim pedestrian & Cyclist Improvement Scheme (Ranelagh) Phase 1 roadworks need to be completed on Ranelagh Main between the Luas Bridge and Chelmsford Lane on the 4th and 5th May 2025 between 09h00AM and 20h00PM.
On Sunday the 4th May 2025 finishing line marking and laying of non-slip epoxy resin cycleway surface. There will be a traffic light switch out and a stop-go operation in the village at the Cullenswood Road and Chelmsford Road junctions.
On Bank Holiday Monday the 5th May works finishing line marking and laying of non-slip epoxy resin cycleway surface will take place. There will be a switch out of the pedestrian lights at near the LUAS entrance.
Pedestrian access through the site will be safely maintained at all times during the works.
