Chapelizod Road to Chapelizod Bypass (including South Circular Road) Active Travel Scheme

This new scheme will provide 3.5km of improved walking and cycling facilities along Chapelizod Road, Conyngham Road, Island Bridge and South Circular Road. It is currently in the Concept Development and Option Selection phase.

The Chapelizod Road to Chapelizod Bypass Scheme will deliver a 3.35km walking and cycling route along Chapelizod Road, Conyngham Road, Island Bridge and South Circular Road.
The scheme commences on the outskirts of Chapelizod Village at the junction of Main Street and Chapelizod Road. It continues on Chapelizod Road until it forks at the Island Bridge junction. One arm continues along South Circular Road up to the junction with the Irish National War Memorial Gardens. The other arm transitions to Conyngham Road, which finishes at the junction of Chesterfield Avenue and Conyngham Road. At this point, the scheme will connect with the Chesterfield Avenue Active Travel Scheme and Liffey Cycle Route.

The South Circular Road section is approximately 250 metres of the overall length.

This scheme forms part of Dublin City Council's 314km Active Travel Network. To see where it fits into this citywide network, you can view our interactive GIS map.

The scheme will provide quality, protected walking and cycling facilities to cater for everyone. It will facilitate a more active lifestyle for all ages, bringing multiple benefits for physical and mental wellbeing.
