Dublin City Libraries offers a variety of ancillary services to members of the public. These include:

  • Print, scan, copy
  • Community noticeboards
  • Information about local and citywide events
  • Forms for passport and Motor Tax
  • Meeting rooms for local community groups such as historical societies, art groups, parent & toddler groups.

Community Services

Community ServicesDublin City Libraries plays host to a number of government and non-government organisations offering support and advice to members of the public.  These community-based services include the Citizens Information Centres, the Free Legal Advice Centre and the Ballymun Community Law Centre.

 


Home Delivery Service for Cocooners

Dublin City Libraries, in partnership with the Dublin Volunteer Centre, have a book delivery service for people who are cocooning.

If you or your loved one are cocooning and would like to avail of this service, library staff will take your request and organise the delivery of the items to your home, with the help of volunteers from the Dublin Volunteer Centre. All items are on long loan, there are no overdue fines or fees and access to the service is always free.

Prison Library Service

The Dublin Prison Library Service is an agency service of Dublin City libraries to the Irish Prison Service. The Service manages eight libraries in prisons in Dublin, providing a similar range of material and services to those provided by public libraries.

The Prison Library Service manages nine libraries in Dublin:

  • East Wing, Wheatfield

Libraries in prisons provide a similar range of material and services to those provided by public libraries. In addition to a lending and reference collection and depending on their size, the branch libraries provide some or all of the following:

  • Periodicals
  • Foreign Language Material
  • Talking Books
  • Large Print
  • Music Listening Posts
  • TV/DVD
  • Music Lending
  • DVD Lending
  • Law Requests

Library users may request items not available in their library.

The Prison Library Service puts special emphasis on collection development in areas that are particularly relevant to the prison population, i.e. Literacy, Foreign Language and Self-Help.
