The 2025 CLRG (An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha) World Irish Dance Championships will take place at the
Dublin Convention Centre from Sunday, 13th April to Sunday, 20th April 2025.
This prestigious event will welcome over 4,000 competitors along with their families from a wide range of countries spanning across the globe who will compete over the week in more than 50 separate competitions.
The Lord Mayor said, “I am delighted to welcome all those taking part in Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne 2025 and their families to Dublin. The number of competitors travelling to the Convention Centre is proof of the popularity of Irish dancing both here at home and around the world. I want to wish everyone all the very best of luck and I hope you enjoy our wonderful city.”
Dublin City Council, recognising Dublin's role as the host city, has commissioned a special commemorative badge which will be given to each competitor. Flags along the River Liffey and a light projection on Samuel Becket Bridge to mark the official opening of 2025 CLRG (An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha) World Irish Dance Championships will also welcome dancers, their families and their supporters.
This year's championships are the highlight in the calendar for the global Irish dancing community, showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of Irish dancers from around the world. The Dublin Convention Centre, with its beautiful architecture and state-of-the-art facilities, will provide the perfect backdrop for this vibrant celebration of culture and artistry.
A unique highlight of the event will be the world premiere of the ‘Ha'penny Bridge’, a specially composed 8-hand céilí dance. This enchanting performance will take place during the opening ceremony, symbolizing the rich heritage of Irish dance and its deep-rooted connection to the city's culture. The “Ha'penny Bridge” is set to capture the spirit of the championships, as dancers unite to celebrate the joy and passion that Irish dance brings to communities worldwide.
"We are thrilled to host the 2025 Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne in Dublin, a city synonymous with Irish culture and dance," said Sandra Connick, Chairperson of CLRG. "This event not only showcases the incredible talent of our competitors but also celebrates the cultural connections that bind us all. The ' Ha'penny Bridge', choreographed by esteemed CLRG member, Mary McElroy, is a testament to the significance of this organisation and will be an exciting premiere for participants and audiences alike."
