Times & Dates
Kevin Street Library in partnership with Culture Date with Dublin 8, presents an illustrated talk by David Caron on Michael Healy, exploring his life and career as a stained glass pioneer and forerunner of Harry Clarke.
Born into grinding poverty and having lived a large part of his life in tenements within the surrounds of Kevin Street, Michael Healy (1873-1941) established himself as a stained glass pioneer, ahead of Harry Clarke and Evie Hone, and key artist in the world-renowned An Túr Gloine studio.
This talk by David Caron will explore Healy’s upbringing in the area around Kevin Street as well as the highlights of his stained glass career – windows that convey everything from austere majesty to tender humanity.
