Féadfaidh oighear, sioc agus sneachta a bheith ann i rith aimsir fhuar sa gheimhreadh agus cruthaíonn iad seo baol d’fheithiclí ar ár mbóithre agus do dhaoine atá ag siúl ar ár gcosáin.
Dublin City Council's winter maintenance service ensures that roads, footpaths and pedestrian areas across Dublin remain clear during snow and ice.
When snow falls or ice forms we are ready with 5 snow ploughs and 10 gritting vehicles to spread salt on priority routes. Dublin City Council maintains a stock of 1500 tonnes of salt throughout the winter maintenance period for this purpose.
As it is not possible to grit all public thoroughfares, the following are given priority: National Primary roads, National Secondary roads, Regional roads, Bus Routes and particular areas of risk eg: stagnant water, higher ground and bridges. This work is normally carried out between 3.30 and 6.30. Other areas may be treated at the request of the emergency services.
What streets are gritted?
Dublin City Council receive specialised road weather information from Transport Infrastructure Ireland systems and Met Eireann. There are three priority treatment routes established for Dublin City Council.
