The department also has an enforcement role to ensure the quality of accommodation in the private rented sector meets a set of minimum standards.

Brendan has management responsibility for the Housing and Community Department, as well as the Dublin Fire Brigade/Emergency Ambulance Service. The Housing and Community Department is broken down into four sections:

Eileen Gleeson, Director, Dublin Region Homeless Executive (DRHE)
Eileen has responsibility for Allocations, Welfare and the DRHE. The DRHE is provided by Dublin City Council as the lead authority in the response to homelessness in Dublin and adopts a shared service approach across South Dublin, Fingal County Council and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.
