Call out for cultural/arts organisations seeking workspace
Published on 3rd March 2025
Dublin City Council is looking to set up a registry of cultural/arts organisations and collectives who are seeking temporary or permanent work-space in the city.
The purpose of the registry, which will be managed the Council’s Arts Office, is to establish a database of organisations/collectives actively seeking space to rent, to lease and manage or to purchase.
This information will then be matched with opportunities that may arise through new building development and/or refurbishment of existing buildings.
For the purposed of cross-referencing we will be using the typologies set out in the Cultural Toolkit : Toolkit Resource 2 Toolkit_Resource_2.pdf
This registry database is intended to be used by Dublin City Council to directly inform registered contacts of new opportunities related to Cultural/Arts workspace (including but not limited to those arising from CUO25 Dublin City Development Plan Final 1-12 Culture.pdf ); and/or training/networking events for artists workspace).
Contacts provided will be shared with developers and/or their agents for the purposes of matching expressed workspace need to new potential supply.
City Arts Officer Ray Yeates says, “While our research shows a great need for cultural workspaces across the city, individual artists are rarely in a position to take on the burden of management or leasing negotiations. We know there is a pool of organisations, collectives and creative entrepreneurs who are willing to take on that role, to address their own needs and to act as leaders in the sector. Each week we meet with developers planning large scale development in communities across the city, who want to include cultural provision. Dublin City Arts Office can play a key role as a point of connection between the two.”
This registry is not suitable or intended for individual artists.
Closing date is Monday March 24th at 12 noon.
