Dublin City Council holds Special Council meeting as Gaeilge
Published on 20th March 2025
Dublin City Council is delighted to announce that it will hold a Special Council Meeting this evening completely as Gaeilge.
This is just the 2nd time that a City Council meeting has been held in Irish, the first time being the Monthly Council meeting which took place in March 2024.
This evening’s meeting will take place in City Hall at 6.45pm.
For anyone present in the chamber, there will be live interpreting services available.
The decision to hold this evening’s meeting as Gaeilge, reflects the importance that Dublin City Council places on the language and its commitment to further strengthening its usage throughout the city.
Items to be discussed at the meeting include a policy and legislative overview, the Gaeilge 365 programme, the Irish Language Cultural Quarter and lessons learned from the bilingual capital Cardiff in Wales.
