Lord Mayor hosts tea dance to celebrate memories
Published on 24th March 2025
The Lord Mayor of Dublin Emma Blain has today hosted an Afternoon Tea Dance in the Round Room at the Mansion House in a celebration of music, dance and memories.
One of the initiatives of the Lord Mayor for her term of office is to actively engage in positive ageing planning and care for the elderly within our communities and raising awareness of dementia in Dublin.
That is why she decided to host this afternoon’s Tea Dance.
Hundreds of elderly people from community groups across the city attended the dance, many of whom had never been in the Mansion House.
The Lord Mayor said “The Round Room is a place which evokes many wonderful memories for Dubliners, from the famous dances that were a weekly staple, to the sale of works which were once held here. Dublin is dear to all of us, and a place which holds the stories of every family in the rich fabric of its streets and villages. It was a pleasure to share stories with the guests today and look back on the memories with joy. I invite Dubliners to create new memories of Dublin with friends and family.”
