‘Memories Made in Dublin City’ exhibition launches in City Hall
Published on 24th May 2025
The Lord Mayor of Dublin Emma Blain has this afternoon launched a new exhibition called ‘Memories Made in Dublin City’.
The exhibition is based on photographs, stories, videos, poems and songs collected from members of the public.
‘Memories Made in Dublin City’ is a campaign by the Lord Mayor and Dublin City Council to bring together people’s wonderful memories of special times spent in Dublin city. People from Dublin, across Ireland and around the world have contributed to it.
The campaign supports one of the Lord Mayor’s initiatives for her term of office - to actively engage in positive ageing planning and care for the elderly within our communities and to raise awareness of dementia in Dublin.
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition in City Hall, the Lord Mayor said:
“Memories bind us together, connecting friends and families, connecting communities, and giving individuals a sense of identity. The power of those connections is captured in this unique exhibition. Touching and heart-warming stories from decades gone to just this year, remind us of what makes living, working in and visiting Dublin city so wonderful.”
This unique exhibition captures many moments in time, with friends and families, in communities or by themselves, with stories from 100 years ago right up to this year. Enjoy the heart-warming tales, from summers in Ringsend to trips to Santa in Switzers, from a tour of Dublin with the late Luke Kelly to the Phoenix Park ‘coal rush' in the 1950s, from first dates to wedding days, it’s a fascinating insight into life in Dublin City over the decades.
Entry to the exhibition is free and it takes place from 10am to 5pm daily from 24th May-2nd June in City Hall on Dame St.
The exhibition will then be available to view online from 3rd June to 31st December at www.madeofmemories.ie
