The focus of this project is to re-energise the area, using high quality design and materials to transform the space into a destination to visit and linger in, rather than to simply pass through.
Introducing and enhancing place making features such as tree planting, seating and out-door dining to encourage social interactions, biodiversity and a vibrant street. The project will aim to create more pedestrian friendly spaces, reallocating space to provide wider footpaths and an accessible experience for all users, while supporting and promoting economic growth in this area.
There are 108 buildings directly accessing these streets. This public realm improvement project has a perimeter of 1.35km or approximately 5,300 square metres in area.
The Works will comprise of the following:
Complete renewal of all surface materials, including 2500sqm of granite paving.
Widening of footpaths and the creation of new dwell zones, with 10 new public benches
Upgrading of the existing outdoor dining areas with high quality materials
Introduction of new soft landscaping features including trees and in ground planting;
Provision of cycle parking and cycle stands;
Provision of new improved street lighting and street furniture including interactive play features for children
Provision of two new water bottle filling stations
