Completion of the Quayside Project – A Landmark Development for Dublin’s Docklands
Published on 24th June 2025
Dublin City Council is pleased to announce the completion of the Quayside Project on North Wall Quay, Dublin 1, a flagship initiative delivering a new Docklands Office and a state-of-the-art City Council Water Sports Centre.
Over the coming weeks, both facilities will undergo final commissioning and fit-out works, with full operations expected to commence shortly thereafter.
In addition to these core developments, the Quayside Project includes a range of enhancements designed to revitalise the River Liffey and its surroundings:
- Extended Pontoons: Improved access and usability along the riverfront.
- Architectural Glulam Structures: Two engineered timber frame structures—supporting the Jeanie Johnston visitor attraction and the new Water Sports Centre—offering a blend of strength, sustainability, and architectural elegance.
- Enhanced Public Realm: A significantly upgraded riverside environment, including an extended boardwalk, creating a vibrant new amenity for residents and visitors alike.
These improvements are set to transform the Docklands into a dynamic hub of activity, encouraging greater public engagement with the River Liffey as a unique and valuable city asset.
This milestone represents a major achievement in urban development and stands as a testament to the vision and commitment of Dublin City Council’s Elected Members. Their unwavering support has been instrumental in bringing this transformative project to life.
A formal launch event is scheduled for September 2025, once all facilities are fully operational. Further details will be announced in due course.
