Don’t Miss Culture Night with Dublin City Council

2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Culture Night, and Dublin City Council is proud to support a wide range of vibrant events across the city in honour of this milestone.
Culture Night - Oíche Chultúir - lights up Dublin with creativity, celebrating the richness of our culture, arts, and imagination. From inspiring performances to hands-on workshops, every event is free and open to all.
Highlights incllude:
- Fr. Collins Park, Dublin 13: A special edition of Opera in the Open, which Dublin City Council hosts annually, will take place as part of this year’s celebrations. Taking place from 4pm to 7.10pm in the evening, this special open-air event will feature performances from Irish musicians Casey Harris and Sult, followed by Kalaasankya, Dublin’s leading Indian classical dance school. Then from 6.10pm, beloved excerpts from Carmen and other operatic highlights will be brought to life by acclaimed Irish performers Sandra Oman, Simon Morgan, and David Wray, joined by talented emerging singers from TU Dublin Conservatoire.
- Charlemont House, Parnell Square North: The doors of Dublin City Council’s Hugh Lane Gallery will open for artist-led workshops, pop-up art talks, and expert-guided tours, with live music performed throughout the evening. Explore the Gallery’s rich collection and special temporary exhibitions for a special evening for art lovers.
- City Hall, Dame Street: Within the historic walls of Dublin’s City Hall, there will be music and spell-binding performances. The programme begins at 6pm with Diva Voces, a celebrated four-part female choir, followed by the traditional multicultural group Roots in Tune (supported by Bal Folk dancers). Later in the evening, the acclaimed all-male choir The Ramparts will take to the stage, with the night concluding with the Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band, performing from 9pm. Visitors will also be able to join free guided tours of the upstairs Council Chambers throughout the evening.
- Hill Street Family Resource Centre: Dublin City’s Comhairle na nÓg have organised an evening of diversity and inclusion. The Irish Youth Council are inviting people to come learn about their work while enjoying a lively mix of music, face painting, henna artistry, hair braiding, games, and interactive workshops.
- The LAB, 1 Foley Street: Dublin City Council’s LAB Gallery will feature various events including the Nach Cuma? Who Cares? exhibition, with artist Aaron Sunderland Carey in attendance offering workshops, and performances of Yellow, an uplifting new play by Jody O’Neill, among other activities (Visit Eventbrite for tickets to these and other events).
Speaking at the programme launch, the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Councillor Ray McAdam, invited audiences to join the celebrations: “Join us on September 19th for the art party of the year as Culture Night celebrates its 20th year in the capital. Culture Night offers a chance for people to explore the city's hidden gems, unleash your creativity and become a tourist in your own town. It’s wonderful to see that O’Connell Street will be activated with events for the first time, in the year of O’Connell’s 250th anniversary, a fitting tribute to our most famous former Lord Mayor”.
