Terms and Conditions

  • A booking of a recording booth may be made by patrons aged 15 years and older with a valid public library card from any library authority in the country.
  • A library membership card and photographic identification is required in order to take up a booking.
  • Acceptable forms of photographic ID include a passport, a driver’s licence, a student card, a staff ID card issued by an employer.
  • Any person wishing to make a booking must have completed an induction session in advance and signed the Agreement Form.
  • A booking may be made in person or by phone
  • The patron who made the booking must be present for the full duration of the session.
  • Use of the large booth requires that a minimum of two persons must be present during a session.
  • The maximum allowed in the large booth is 8 persons; in the small booth it is 6 persons.
  • While basic assistance may be provided, the studios are essentially self-service.
  • The recording studios require the use of equipment like microphones, an audio interface, video camera and computers with audio and video software. The patron making the booking is responsible for this equipment during their allotted time slot. The cost of repair or replacement of damaged equipment will be passed on to the booking party.
  • Any equipment faults to be reported to a member of staff before the end of your session
  • The Creative Studio computers are restricted to allowed applications. No other applications may be used.
  • It is not permitted to connect your own computer to the library equipment.
  • Bookings can be made up to two weeks in advance.
  • Sessions can be of the following duration: 50 minutes, 1 hours 20 minutes, 1 hour 50 minutes, 2 hours 20 minutes, 2 hours 50 minutes. To begin on the hour or half hour.
  • You must have vacated the booth by the end of the session. This is to allow time for staff to prepare the booth for the next session.
  • Any participant in a session may not book a second session to take place on the same day.
  • A session may be extended at the discretion of staff if time is available and other library patrons are not waiting to use it.
  • The last session of the day must finish 30 minutes before the library closes.
  • The person who has made the booking must present and sign in within 10 minutes of the start of their session.
  • A staff member will accompany you to the studio and confirm with you that equipment is working.
  • When leaving, you will need to sign out. Staff will require you to accompany them back to the booth to confirm everything is working and in situ before you leave.
  • Failure to present will result in the booking being cancelled and the time slot being made available to other patrons. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance of your confirmed studio booking.
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before your confirmed studio booking, or failure to present within 10 minutes of the start of the session, may result in withdrawal of studio access rights.
  • You must save your recording to your USB stick or cloud storage before powering down the computer, as all data will be wiped from the computer when it is powered down.
  • It is important to allow sufficient time to transfer your recording to your USB stick or cloud storage and exit the computer. Large files may require significant time to transfer.
  • The library does not provide USB storage devices; please bring your own.
  • You must bring your own musical instruments and instrument cables.
  • No food or drink allowed inside the studios.
  • Library staff reserve the right to enter the studio at any time.
  • By using our Computer and Internet facilities, you are deemed to have agreed to our Acceptable Usage Policy, and these Terms and Conditions. Failure to comply with Library policies and procedures may result in you being prohibited from using all library services.
