Cycle Parking

Back to Covid Mobility Measures

Cycling numbers in Dublin have more than doubled in the last decade. This increase means there is much more demand for cycle parking in the city. To keep up with this demand DCC have installed 5,956 cycle parking spaces since 2013, and are aiming to add another 2,000 cycle parking spaces in 2021 and 2022.

Request cycle parking

DCC provides cycle parking in public areas, residential areas as well as in schools and sports clubs. You can make a request for cycle parking in any of these areas.

Public cycle parking

Cycle parking can be installed on publically accessible land in suitable locations that have enough space. For cycle parking to be installed on a footpath, the path needs to be at least 3.3 metres wide. More space will be needed in areas of high footfall.

If you have a suggestion for where cycle parking is needed, please complete the Covid Mobility Request Form or email [email protected]. Our cycle parking team will assess the spaces suggested and provide new cycle parking based on suitability and demand.

Cycle parking for schools

To support more students to cycle to school, DCC is providing schools with free cycle and scooter parking. In 2020 DCC provided 63 schools with cycle parking for over 1,400 bikes.

Applications for cycle and scooter parking are currently open. Please ask your School Principal to complete the online application form.

Cycle parking for sports clubs

DCC is now providing cycle parking to sports clubs. Applications are currently open. If your club would like to apply for cycle parking, please complete our online application form.

Cargo cycle parking

Cycle parking for cargo bikes is now available at St Stephen’s Green and on Manor Place.

If you have a suggestion for where cargo bike parking is needed, please complete the Covid Mobility Request Form or email [email protected].
