Ireland Reads is a campaign to get the whole country reading during February in the lead up to a national day of reading on Saturday, February 22.

We are delighted to share the ‘History on Your Doorstep’ series with you, written by Dublin City Historians in Residence.

Libraries are one of THE most important gathering places in our communities. Not only are they places of learning and personal growth but leisure.

Going to school for the first time is a big milestone in a child's life. It's an exciting, yet somewhat nervous time for the whole family. We have put together a list of some of our favourite 'Going to School' books, which we hope will help your family navigate this new experience. All books are available to borrow or reserve in your local library.

To use a library resource, and to use it from home, you may need your library card and password.

The novels nominated and shortlisted for the Award will be available for readers to borrow from Dublin City Libraries and from public libraries around Ireland, or can be borrowed as eBooks and some as eAudiobooks on the free Borrowbox app, available to all public library users.

Please note : children must be accompanied by an adult(s) at all times. The library is monitored by CCTV at all times.

Dublin City Council will unveil a commemorative plaque for the writer Maeve Brennan at her childhood home (48 Cherryfield Avenue) in Ranelagh on 6 January 2024 at 11am.

Dublin City Libraries launched a Children’s Literacy Project in Croke Park in cooperation with the Dublin GAA County Board for 6th class children from schools in the Dublin City Council area.
