Ballymun Local Area Plan
Dublin City Council has published a Local Area Plan (LAP) for the Ballymun area. This plan will be active until October 2027.
This LAP was developed in accordance with Section 20 of the Planning and Development Act. The vision of the plan is to create a successful and sustainable new town with a thriving local economy that caters for everyone.
Significant progress has been achieved in implementing the LAP, including the roll out of affordable and social housing, student housing and retail on the Main Street. Other development sites will be guided by this LAP, as well as the Dublin City Development Plan 2022-2028, which lists Ballymun as a Strategic Development Regeneration Area. Chapter 13 of the plan sets out high level guiding principles for the area's development.
