If you are resident and live on a street or road that has a Pay-and-Display and Permit Parking Scheme, you may be eligible to buy a Resident's Parking Permit from Dublin City Council.

Applying for a first time Resident’s Parking Permit

This permit is for you if you are resident and live on a street or road with a Pay-and-Display and Permit Parking Scheme and is subject to conditions outlined in the Parking Control Bye-Laws 2019. Complete and return the Resident's Parking Permit form or contact the Customer Services Centre to request a copyApplication Forms must be fully completed and include the required supporting documentation. The standard fee for a resident’s parking permit is stated on the application form. The fees for a resident’s parking permit are stated on the application form. 

Renewing your parking permit

A renewal letter will be issued to you 28 days before your residential parking permit expiresIf you do not receive a renewal letter please ensure you contact the Customer Services Centre. If you wish to renew your permit you must do so within 28 days of the expiry date. You will not be able to renew it after this date. A late application received will be treated as a first time application, which may affect your eligibility.

Remember, it is your responsibility to ensure that a valid permit is displayed (on the windscreen of your vehicle) at all times. The onus is always on the permit holder to ensure their permit is renewed 28 days before it is due to expire. The issuing of renewal notices is a courtesy. Dublin City Council will not entertain any claim for loss or damages incurred where a resident to make a claim arising from an alleged failure to receive a renewal notice.

By post

Complete Part A and Part B of renewal notice (if applicable) and return to Customer Services Centre, Civic Offices, Wood Quay, Dublin 8. Cheques/postal orders/bank drafts must be made payable to Dublin City Council.

In person

Bring your renewal notification with you to our Customer Services Centre at the address below, which is open between 9am and 5pm hours, including lunchtime, from Monday to Friday. Your permit will be posted to your address.

Apply for a visitors parking permit

You can only buy a visitor parking permit if you are eligible to buy a resident’s parking permit. However, you can still buy visitors parking permit even if you do not have a current residents parking permit. The visitors parking permits are 24 hour scratch permits and they cost €1.25 per permit. Please ensure that these permits are scratched properly and displayed on the front windscreen of your vehicle.

Complete and return the Visitor Parking Permit form or contact the Customer Services Centre to request a copy. Application forms must be fully completed and include the required supporting documentation.

Alternatively, if you hold a current Resident’s Parking Permit, you can order Visitor Parking Permits through the Online Self Service Portal. A Customer Service agent will contact you regarding payment when your order has been validated, on the next working day.

Residential Parking Permit holders can purchase Visitor Parking Permits over the phone at 01 222 2259.  Visitor Parking Permits can also be purchased at the Customer Services Centre which is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Visitor Parking Permits cost €1.25 each, and are sold in multiples of four. The minimum telephone order accepted is €20. Payments can be made by debit or credit card.

Note: Your Visitor Parking Permits will be posted to you at your address.

Applying for a Non-Resident Family Member (Carer’s) Permit

This is for people who visit you for the purpose of providing care, but do not live with you. Complete and return the Non-Resident Family Member (Carer’s) Parking Permit form or contact the Customer Services Centre to request a copy. Application forms must be fully completed and include the required supporting documentation. The permit may be issued with a maximum of two vehicle registration numbers on it.

Please note, photocopies of your insurance certificate and driving licence are acceptable. Your Non-Resident (Carer’s) Parking Permit will be posted to you at the address provided on the application form. 

Apply for a Residential Institution Employee’s Permit

This is for certain people who work in residential institutions - please check the back of the application form for eligibility. To apply for a permit, complete and return the Residential Institution Employee’s Parking Permit form or contact the Customer Services Centre to request a copy. Application Forms must be fully completed and include the required supporting documentation. The maximum number of Resident's Parking Permits that may be held concurrently by employees of any one residential institution is two. Note that your permit will be posted to you at your address.

Apply to change your parking permit's vehicle details

To change the details of the vehicle(s) for which your parking permit is required, complete and return the Permit Parking Change of Vehicle form or contact the Customer Services Centre to request a copy. Application forms must be fully completed and include the required supporting documentation along with your current Residential Parking Permit.

Your parking permit will be posted to you at your address.
