Dublin as a City of Kindness
The Lord Mayor of Dublin Daithí de Róiste has launched a new campaign, calling on Dubliners to be kind to each other.
The campaign, ‘Always Brighter Stories’, celebrates people doing kind, inclusive work in their communities across Dublin. From volunteer groups to disability activists, social enterprises, charities and more, the Lord Mayor is spotlighting these stories to thank all Dubliners who make a positive impact in our city and county.
“When I was elected First Citizen, I said one of the key themes for my year in office would be kindness,” said the Lord Mayor. “So I’m using this new campaign to call on everyone, including myself, to be more kind to family, friends, neighbours and even strangers. We all know people in our community who selflessly give up their time to help others, never asking for anything in return. I want to recognize those people and encourage as many others as I can to follow their example. I believe it’s especially important, given what happened in our city last November, that we look out for each other more in 2024."

Kindness Heroes
Calling all Dublin Schools to take part in the Lord Mayors initiative for Kindness Heroes.
Dublin as a City of Kindness
We want the pupils to carry out random acts of kindness during the week of the 15th of April to 19th of April 2024.
Kindness is, in many ways, one of the most important human traits. Acts of kindness serve to spread happiness, improve friendships and improve the mood of all parties involved.
In a world that feels at times unkind, a gesture of a random act of kindness can add joy, a smile or make someone’s day even better. This will reduce stress, improve our emotional well-being and even benefit our physical health. In short, doing good does you good.
A random act of kindness is giving your best self to others without request or a promise in return.
We would also love to hear about your acts of Kindness by tagging the Lord Mayor of Dublin on any of his social media platforms listed below, media:
- Instagram @lordmayorofdublin
- X @LordMayorDublin Facebook @lordmayorofdublin
- or by email [email protected]
- or you can contact Christine Lyons on 087-6083998
The random act of kindness will be nominated by their school and will be presented with a certificate at the Mansion House
