Peace Garden, Christchurch Place
The Peace Garden at Christchurch Place is a thoughtfully renovated public space in Dublin’s medieval quarter. It offers a quiet retreat for reflection in the heart of the city.
Located beside the ruins of the Church of St Nicholas Within and opposite Christ Church Cathedral, this 0.1-hectare garden offers a tranquil space for reflection in Dublin’s historic core.
Originally developed for the Dublin Millennium celebrations in 1988, the garden has been reimagined with ramped access, high-quality materials like Carlow limestone and Wicklow granite, and restored features including Leo Higgins’ Tree of Life sculpture. The space also includes literary inscriptions from W.B. Yeats and Patrick Kavanagh, a Flanders Fields memorial, and John Behan’s Millennium Child sculpture.
