Learn More About This Section

Section 3 aims to facilitate greater Active Travel in the city by providing safe walking and cycling infrastructure as an alternative to private car use. This will also help reduce carbon emissions in the city.

The National Transportation Authority is funding this scheme.

Jons Civil Engineering Ltd. is the contractor on Section 3 of this scheme.

O’Connor Sutton Cronin Consulting Engineers designed this section of the scheme.

There are 176 existing trees along the route. Of these, 45 are recommended for immediate removal or cutting down.

Several measures have been put into place to minimise the loss of trees, including the reduction of the greenway's width, an increase in the level of the greenway to reduce damage to root systems, the use of bespoke kerbing to reduce digging and much more.

For more details, you can view our Tree Status Report.

As part of the Part 8 Planning process, which was granted in 2015, a statutory public consultation was carried out.
