Glin Court is an Older Persons Housing development built in 1979. Located in the North East of Dublin City, in Coolock, it lies within a dense residential area.

In January 2018, following fire damage to Block 1, residents were safely evacuated and the block remained vacant and uninhabitable. Subsequently, Block 2 was decanted and the site became vacant from 2019.

After the site was added to Dublin City Council’s Housing Regeneration Programme, works began on redeveloping the existing housing complex into 32 quality homes universally designed for Older People, maximum of three storeys high with a flat roof (approximately the same height as the current building).  This new development consists of 12 ground floor units with gated front gardens and private back gardens, while the remaining upper floor units are provided with generous balcony spaces.

An integrated design team led by Paul Keogh Architects has been appointed to design the residential development, with all units designed in accordance with the recommendations of the National Disability Authority and the ground floor units will be fully accessible for wheelchair users.

The landscape design of the private communal gardens includes green spaces, allotments and planter bed as well as footways and seating areas.

As well as delivering modern homes, the older persons housing scheme will also provide for a Community Centre and kitchen to serve both the residents of Glin Court and the wider area with a meals-on-wheels service.
