- To reduce the growth in transport emissions;
- To enable National (Project Ireland 2040), Regional (GDA Transport Strategy) and Local (Dublin City Development Plan, 2016-2022) strategic outcomes and deliver on relevant climate action targets.
- The National Transport Authority is fully funding the project.
- The NTA approves projects to proceed in stages in line with its Project Management Guidelines. Most recently it approved the awarding of the construction contract in April 2023.
