Community Grant Bike Week 2025
Bike Week is a week dedicated to celebrating and promoting cycling. This year Bike Week takes place from 10th – 18th May 2025.
Dublin City Council, with funding from the National Transport Authority, is pleased to announce that we have a community grant scheme for groups that would like to organise events to celebrate cycling during Bike Week. (Dublin City Council's flagship Bike Week event, Pedal Power, takes place on Sunday 11th May so groups are asked not to clash with that, if possible.)
If your group is interested in running an activity for Bike Week, please complete the application form with details of the event planned. We are particularly interested in events that promote cycling among groups currently under-represented in cycling.
Payment will be made to the community group after the event, on the provision of receipts for costs incurred. Please note that applicants are required to have a bank account in the official name of the group as payments cannot be made to a third party or personal account. We would also request photos of the event that may be shared on our social media channels.
- Event costs for events taking place within Dublin city.
- This grant is open to community groups, residential groups, schools, clubs, social enterprises, non-profit organisations and small businesses.
- If you're unsure whether your event or group would be eligible for this grant please
email [email protected] to check.
- Costs for materials or equipment (eg. bikes, bike racks).
- Payment for volunteers.
- Open Streets Event: Open streets create a community celebration by temporarily closing the streets to cars and opening it to cyclists.
- Commuter Convoy on Bike to Work Day: Identify meeting locations for suburban commuters to gather and cycle to key business areas together. Plan for an
experienced bike commuter to lead from each location. Have a breakfast snack
available on arrival. - Bike Clinics with local bike mechanics.
- Community Bike Sale/ Swap Designate a location and time and encourage
community members to bring their no-longer-needed bike-related items, including bicycles, parts and accessories. For those curious about cycling but unsure or unable to get a bike of their own, a pop-up shop with used bicycles is just the solution. Consider working with a local bike shop to run the swaps. - Group Cycles
