Liffey Cycle Route
The Liffey Cycle Route is a multi-phase active travel project being delivered at the heart of Dublin City Centre.
Construction Update - 08/10/2024
Works commenced on Aston Quay in late September. All civil works on Georges Quay and Burgh Quay are now complete. Construction work is expected to completed on Tara Street by mid-October. All resurfacing work except on Aston Quay has now been completed. Work in is ongoing on Aston Quay to construct Taxi Island and Bus Stop build out.
As part of the #ActiveTravelNetwork Liffey cycle route project, construction work will be commence from Monday, June 24th on Georges Quay.
One lane of traffic will be closed to facilitate the installation of two way cycle track from Talbot Bridge to Butt Bridge.
Construction Update - 13/03/2024
Works have commenced on Burgh Quay. The northern most traffic lane has been removed and pedestrians have been accommodated. A footpath is being constructed on the existing Parking areas. Drainage works are ongoing. Works to remove the left slip from Burgh Quay to D’Olier Street will begin at the end of March
Construction Update - 01/03/2023
From Saturday 2nd March 2024, one traffic lane on Burgh Quay will be closed to facilitate the construction of the Liffey Cycle Route. There will be no restrictions on traffic movements however, there may be some delay.
The Liffey Cycle Route from George's Quay to Aston Quay
The Liffey Cycle Route interim scheme from George's Quay to Aston Quay is anticipated to commence construction in Q1 2024.
The contractor for the works will be Cairn Construction.

The Liffey Cycle Route at Eden Quay - Completed
A 0.18km Section of the Liffey Cycle Route from Rosie Hackett Bridge to Butt Bridge/Beresford Place commenced construction on Wednesday 3rd of May 2023 and was complete in December 2023.
